Gratitude

Understanding the importance of gratitude came in the most unlikely of places. My first introduction to a daily gratitude practice happened when a friend sent me a gratitude challenge invitation on Facebook.  For 10 days I had to record 5 things that I was grateful for each day.  In those 10 days I experienced such a sense of peace and joy that it is now something that I incorporate into my regular routine.  While I don’t record five things each day, I do take a moment each day to reflect on the things that I am truly grateful for.

“You radiate and generate more goodness for yourself when you’re aware of all you have and not focusing on your have-nots.” – Oprah Winfrey, What I know for Sure

If I find myself feeling down or wallowing in self pity I force myself to go back to recording five things each day. It really amazes me how much of a difference it makes.  Our thoughts create our world, so it is important to recognize what you spend most of your day thinking about.  Gratitude opens up a new world, one filled with joy and abundance, which generates more joy and abundance.

In writing this blog it made me want to record the 5 things I am grateful for today.

Today I am thankful for…

life and health

the sun as it kisses my skin and brings the birds and their song out into the world.

to be able to live in a country free of war

to have my baby girl sleeping in my arms as I write this post

to be in a loving relationship

I hope you will take a moment each day to incorporate this daily practice into your life as I believe the difference will be quite dramatic. Feel free to share your thoughts on gratitude or what works for you.

Best,

Gina
